These days we take it for granted that Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale are supposed to always be at each other’s throats. The two have been beefing for so long that we don’t remember a time when that was not how they related to each other.
However, everything has a beginning and the Stonebwoy-Shatta beef can definitely be traced back to one tv interview in 2013.
In the interview, both Wale and Stonebwoy were on tv to promote an upcoming show where they were both billed to perform. Stonebwoy was an up and coming star at the time whilst Shatta Wale was also mounting his comeback after becoming irrelevant as Bandana.
The background to the interview is that both stars competed in a dancehall competition in 2004 which Stonebwoy won.
Whilst on the 2013 tv interview promoting the upcoming show, Stonebwoy tried to trace how he has been in dancehall for a long time and both he and Shatta were pioneers in the genre in Ghana, but Shatta Wale tried to make it seem like he’s an OG who trained Stonebwoy, something the latter did not like.
Thus tensions started to rise in the studio as Shatta Wale called Stonebwoy a liar and tried to force Stonebwoy to accept that he mentored him, which he denied.
Things got so heated the host had to change her seat and sit between the two stars.
Their beef was born then and all these years later, these two still can’t stand each other.
