The grand finale of the 2019 National Science & Maths Quiz took off today at the National Theatre, in Accra Ghana.
The much-anticipated contest was between St. Augustine’s College (Augusco), St. Peter’s Senior High School (Persco), and Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (Presec) finally saw one of the big guns come out as the ultimate winner.
St. Augustine’s College‘s team, made up of Newton Jimmy Stephen, Maino Afful Joseph Kwaku, and Elliason came out as grand winners of the year’s National Science & Maths Quiz competition, beating Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School as the 1st runner-up and St. Peter’s Senior High School at 2nd runner-up.
This wins makes it their second time of winning the NSMQ competition since 2007, setting a record of always winning every time they’ve gotten to the finals of the competition.
Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Legon came to the final aiming at winning this year’s contest to make it its six (6) win, as St. Peter’s Secondary School hoped to win it for the second consecutive time. Dreams shuttered huh!! I don’t think so…

GHS15,000 to schools representatives, GHS15,000 to team of teachers, and GHS20,000 to the school
1st runner up — Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School
GHS17,000 to schools representatives, GHS17,000 to team of teachers, and GHS30,000 to the school
Winners — St. Augustine’s College
GHS20,000 to schools representatives, GHS20,000 to team of teachers, and GHS40,000 to the school. In addition is a vacation trip to Nairobi.
