Here is an article on what transpired

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as market women, nurses, bankers, teachers, doctors, and virtually all Ghanaians, is suffering, the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has told President Nana Akufo-Addo and his deputy in the face when a delegation, led by former National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) CEO, Mr Sylvester Mensah, delivered the biggest opposition party’s goodwill message to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at its National Delegates Conference at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre on Sunday, 22 December 2019.

“Walewale Adam Smith, Ghanaians are suffering”, Mr. Mensah reiterated to the Vice-President and the entire NPP family at the conference.

According to him, during the past three years of the Akufo-Addo government, “Regrettably, Mr. Chairman, we have witnessed policies and regulatory interventions that have had dire consequences for entrepreneurs, skilled staff and customers of financial institutions.

“We have witnessed the mass exit of Ghanaians from jobs in the public sector just because they profess a political philosophy other than yours.

“Our teachers are suffering, market women are suffering, students are suffering, nurses are suffering, bankers are suffering, doctors are suffering, the vice-president is suffering”, Mr. Mensah shouted on the podium while flanked by executives of the NDC.

Additionally, he noted saying, “Mr. Chairman, press freedom is under siege”, explaining that: “The continuous closure of media houses perceived to be sympathetic to the NDC, is a blot on our political dispensation, on our democracy and undermines tolerance and freedom of expression. It is a legacy no one should be proud of”.

According to the NDC, it is “closely monitoring and observing the deliberate harassment of its National Chairman, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo”, adding: “Finally, on behalf of the NDC and our flag bearer, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the next President of the Republic of Ghana, we salute the NPP for the courage to hold a National Delegates Conference during this Christmas season, when the sentiment of the majority of Ghanaians is that of a ‘sakora’ Christmas.”

Mr. Mensah said: “Our politics should be a reason to take this country forward, and not a reason to tear it apart. Our ideologies, policies, and approaches may be different but that is the beauty of political pluralism.”

He also said: “We urge you not to forget to plan your exit from government in 2020”.
