Second arrest case as a result of social gathering ban by the Government of Ghana.

The Akuapim South District Chief Executive has arrested Veronica Okai, the leader of The Break of Mountains prayer camp for flouting President Akufo-Addo’s ban on social gatherings.

The arrest took place on 18 March 2020 at Pokrom, in the Eastern region’s Akuapim South District together with some security personnel.

Her arrest follows President Akufo-Addo’s ban on all public gatherings, including conferences, funerals, political rallies, religious gatherings and related activities, as part of the steps against the spread of the country’s pandemic in his March 15, 2020 address to the nation.

Reports indicate that Veronica Okai, who is also the elder of The Break of Mountains Prayer Camp in Pokrom near Aburi, Eastern Region, was arrested by the Akuapem South District Security Council (DISEC) for holding a church service.

The prophetess was captured at about 12:45 pm on Wednesday 18 March 2020.

The Team led by the District Chief Executive for Akuapem South has shut down the prayer camp.
