COVID-19: Coronavirus Cases In Ghana Rise From 52 To 53

Updated: Ghana records one more case of Coronavirus making a total of 53 with two (2) death tolls.

An additional positive case of COVID-19 in Ghana has been confirmed by Ghana’s health service.

The newly confirmed case adds to the previous 52 which the health minister announced earlier today, Tuesday, at the press briefing.

“As of 24 March 2020, a total of fifty-three (53) cases including two (2) deaths have been confirmed. All the fifty-one (51) confirmed cases are receiving treatment in isolation,”

the statement from the Ghana Health Service said.

The statement from the Ghana Health Service explained that:

“the sudden spike in case incidence is as a result of the mandatory quarantine and compulsory testing for all travellers entering Ghana, as directed by the president.”

A total of 1030 are under mandatory quarantine according to the Health Service.

A total of 844 of the quarantined individuals also had their samples taken out for the necessary tests which 510 had their COVID-19 samples tested.

26 Of those individuals tested positive for COVID-19.

“As of 24 March, a total of 1,030 are under mandatory quarantine; 844 have had their samples taken; 510 have had the samples tested; and out these twenty-six (26) tested positive for COVID-19.”

The statement also confirmed that nineteen (19) individuals have completed the mandatory 14 days of follow-up.
