Sister Derby and Wanlov the Kubulor have teamed up to make face masks from recycled clothing to aid the prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Many people are educating or donating goods, including hand sanitizers but these two have come up with a genius way of recycling second-hand junk dumped on Ghana by the West.
Together with clothes makers of Kantamanto, they are making ‘Ano Dross’ which directly translates as ‘mouth panty’ for export
The masks, according to Sister Derby, are made out of recycled second-hand clothing, especially T-Shirts.
In a documentary about the masks, Sister Derby said their initiative would not only help deal with airborne diseases like Covid-19 but also minimise clothing waste at dumpsites and in the sea.
