Ghanaian nurse, Freda Ocran, former head of Jacobi Medical Center’s psychiatric unit in New York City passes away from the deadly Covid-19.

A Ghanaian nurse has reportedly died from the novel coronavirus in the United States.

The nurse identified as Freda Ocran was the former head nurse of the psychiatric unit of the Jacobi Medical Center in New York City until her premature death from the virus that spreads all over the world.

She was concerned that staff at the hospital were not provided with protective equipment against the virus when they were operating, according to sources.

Sadly, because she ended up dying from the infection it seems her fears were prescient.

Talking to the New York Post, her son Kwame disclosed the questions his mother had posed before she died.

“She had concerns, especially with working with patients and other staff and how long it was taking to be tested,”

Kwame told the Post.

“Without those tests being administered, there’s no way of knowing if she was working with someone who had it or not,” Kwame said of his mother. “She complained and was concerned about the precautions being taken.”

Jacobi nurses organized a demonstration outside the hospital in the aftermath of Freda’s death, protesting their bosses and demanding more protective equipment so they don’t end up like Freda.
