The Ghana government has launched the GH COVID-19 Tracker App to help to counter the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19 in the country.

The App was launched on Monday, 13th April 2020.

About Covid-19 Tracker App

“GH COVID-19 Tracker” is a computer/mobile program or software application developed by the Ministry of Communications to help in the fight against the deadly COVID-19.

The app, powered by the Ministry of Communication is free to download mobile software.

GH COVID-19 Tracker App will available on Android and iOS platforms for downloads.

The App will help track telephone numbers of people who have recently been to certain countries around the world. The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) will use the information to determine who to provide an extra layer of screening.

How the app works

  1. Checking for COVID-19 symptoms and pertinent risk factors.
  2. Answer COVID-19 questions
  3. Geographical location
  4. Dashboard and reporting
  5. Digital assistance

Ghana has 450 teams across the country to trace and test persons believed to come in contact with infected persons.

So far about some 37, 954 persons have been tested in Ghana, only second to South Africa with a higher number according to the Vice President, Dr Bawumia.

As of Sunday, 12th April 2020 Ghana has recorded 566 cases with 8 deaths and 4 recoveries. 10 out of 16 regions have recorded COVID-19 so far.
