Ace journalist and the managing editor of The Insight Newspaper Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has cautioned President Akufo Addo and his government to stop giving Ghanaians ‘false hope’ in this coronavirus crisis.

According to him, the President giving Ghanaians ‘false hope’ is also a great factor as to why citizens aren’t adhering to the directives and measures put in place to curb the spread of the virus.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show with chairman general Kwame Sefa Kayi, Fiifi Pratt disclosed that the government’s decision not to put fear in the citizens no matter the rise in the coronavirus cases will put the country in a very bad situation.

Adding that, we need a little bit of fear to help fight or curb the spread of the disease because, with a little dose of fear, everyone will adhere to the measures and regulations put in place.

He said “Almost 3,000 in a matter of four weeks is very scary. We should stop the false hope that we’re giving to the people. Because if you give people false hope and tell them to wear nose masks, why would they wear it? You’re telling them the disease doesn’t call for fears and that the person will recover when he or she gets infected. If he will recover, then why would he wear the mask? We need a dose of fear because the fear helps to manage the situation.”
