The National Statistics Office has released a report on the rates at which black women and black men can be killed by this deadly coronavirus in the United Kingdom ”UK”, as compared to the whites.

Considering the reports released by their office on Thursday, black men are 4.2 likely to lose their lives as a result of COVID-19 as compared to the whites, whereas the black Caribbeans, and black African women are 4.3 more likely to be killed when exposed to the virus.

However, their report also shows an increased risk of Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Indian citizens, dying as a result of COVID-19. They added that, after careful consideration of other factors such as demographic factors, age, and daily reports on their health, blacks were still with the highest risk of death as compared to the whites.

The disparities are “partly a result of socio-economic disadvantage and other circumstances, but a remaining part of the difference has not yet been explained,”

“It is urgent the causes of this disproportionality are investigated,” the UK’s shadow justice secretary David Lammy tweeted on Thursday, calling the findings “appalling.”

“Action must be taken to protect black men and women — as well as people from all backgrounds — from the virus,”

Their study stated

According to them, their research is backed by previous data, which proves the high death rate of blacks in the UK, whereas reports released by the institute of fiscal studies indicated that, blacks are at higher risks of dying when they get exposed to the disease

In their study, it was made clear that the death rates recorded amid COVID-19 can not be attributed to demographic and geographical differences as well as the number of deaths recorded in the health facility.

It was further explained that, records from the united states of America also indicated that, blacks are at high risk of dying amid Covid-19. Considering the data collected, 30 percent of African Americans are in Chicago but 70 percent of death records were retrieved amid COVID-19. Also, African Americans in Louisiana are 32 percent of their total population but about 70 percent of them had died from coronavirus outbreak.

Blacks needs to be protected against this deadly virus as their death risk from coronavirus is high.
