The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) “Mr. Abdul Wasiu Hudu” in the Central Region, has reported the death case of two young men who were involved in a fatal accident at Gomoa Ankamu in the Central Region on Tuesday.

According to him, they were in a taxi that was heading towards the Greater Accra Region from Mankessim.

The taxi cab whose registration number is  GS 5436-19 was found turned upside down with its passengers trapped in it, making it difficult for them to escape. In view of this, the Apam Fire Station Officers were contacted to give a helping hand in saving their lives. Upon reaching the scene, removing them from the cab was very difficult so getting them out delayed which led to their sudden demise.

According to Mr. Hudu, the main reason for the accident is still investigated but it was found that, the driver had alcoholic drinks in the cab.

The eye witness who was at the scene also indicated that the taxi driver somersaulted due to overspeeding and as a result got into a Diesel Truck which caused it to turn upside down lying on its roof with the passengers trapped.

The body of the deceased which is yet to be identified is kept at the morgue in St. Louis Catholic Hospital at Apam.
