The Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi reveals in an interview with The Punch that he didn’t join politics for the sake of solving Nigeria’s problems but rather for his own benefit

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is a Nigerian politician who served as the 5th Governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015

He was re-elected for a second term on 26 April 2011. Amaechi was a member of the People’s Democratic Party before defecting to the All Progressives Congress on 27 November 2013.

He is now a serving Federal Minister of Transportation and also the director-general of the Buhari reelection campaign. He was nominated for ministerial appointment by President Buhari in July 2019

Meanwhile during a recent interview on The Punch(Daily Nigerian Newspaper) revealed he joined politics because of unemployment and some financial problems he was facing

I didn’t join politics because I wanted to be a leader or because I wanted to solve Nigeria’s problems. I joined because of unemployment. I also believe there is a part that grace played in it.

he said

He further said the poor will always be there, they never go away

The poor are still here and I doubt if they would ever go away. What happens is that the elite, whether the capitalists or socialists – must manage them in such a way that they can be provided for.

he said

Politicians will always be politicians, imagine if citizen in Nigeria start realising politicians are more interested in their gains rather than what if good for the country

Nobody will join any cue to vote or be interested in anything that has to do with politics.
