Two Criminals Gunned Down Amid Fierce Gun Battle With Police At Dansoman

DCOP Frederick Adu Anim, the Police Commander of Accra Regional Police Headquarters, has reported the sudden death of two criminals who are known to be perfect car-snatchers, amid a savaged gun battle between the police and the criminals with one of the convicts who got injured in the process, arrested.

According to the reports gathered, the two unidentified deceased and injured convict ” Kwame Yeboah” have been divulged to be part of a gang who attack people in the metropolis of Accra for their vehicles and other assets.

During the investigations of the police team, a stolen Kia Morning vehicle and one locally manufactured pistol with two BB live cartridges, were discovered from their camp.

The Commander indicated that, a complaint was made on the 8th of May, 2020 about a stolen Kia morning vehicle with registration number  GE 2269-20, which was snatched from the owner, identified as Baah Yard at Ablekuma.

He further stated that this incident occurred around 2:00 am on the said date after the criminals ordered for his services as a driver and he was attacked by them, to take away his car at Ablekuma in Accra.

“The team intercepted the armed robbers in the said car at Odorkor, Busia Junction, but the armed robbers sped off upon seeing the police,”

he added

As the police spotted the criminals in the stolen vehicle, they followed them. Their attempt in reaching these criminals led to the fierce exchange of gunshots which caused one of the suspects “Kwame Yeboah” to be injured on his right leg whereas the others escaped.

“Intelligence gathered later led police to Dansoman Exhibition, where the two suspects were said to be hiding, but upon seeing the police, they engaged them in a shootout and in the process they were shot and wounded,”

he narrated

The police commander added that, the remaining two who later got shot down in the exchange of gun fires with the police, were sent to the police hospital for treatment but they were confirmed dead, few minutes after their arrival.

The eight cars which were retrieved during their investigations, include a Kia Picanto, two Toyota Corolla, two Kia Morning, a Daewoo Matrix, and two Toyota Yaris.

“We are appealing to victims of such crimes to come to the Accra Regional Headquarters to identify their stolen vehicles for collection,”
