Residents of Ofankor “Spot M” and beloved friends of a tenant and musician “Mr. Benjamin Okyere,” who was killed by his landlord over the expiration of rent a day before the due date to vacate the premises, flounced Achimota -Mile 7 to fight for justice for their beloved friend after his demise.
Speaking with Adom News, his close friend identified as Wedam Daniels, popularly known as Iyah, indicated that, they would want to witness the arrest and charges of the convict as that would only determine if the laws in Ghana really works.
The eyes witnesses to this indicated that, the landlord shots the deceased for four times, after a notice was sent to him by the accused ” Mr Victor Kamkam,” to leave the house before May 24, 2020.
When interrogated about the incident, the accused explained that he did that for self defense, and has refused to say anything to the police regarding his reasons for killing him.
In fact I was peeved. I think he didn’t understand what self-defense means. When you walk from your home premeditated with a fully-loaded gun with a bulletproof vest?
You only have to be threatened first to say self-defense. My friend wasn’t even aware that he was even coming. I was expecting the media to ask more questions.
We want justice to prevail. We know there is freedom and no justice in Ghana. We were at the court and the case has been adjourned to two weeks’ time. We want him to be jailed, he concluded.
