Cocoa Farmer Butchers Wife To Death Over Divorce At Mile 5

A 25 years old woman ”  Regina Efe Incoom”, wife of Mr. Eric Arhin, a 28 years old man, has been slaughtered by her husband, over a divorce request she made due to her husband’s inability to carry out his responsibilities as a husband leading to her sudden death.

This sad incident happened at Mile 5, a suburb in the Municipality of Tarkwa-Nsuaem.

According to the District Police Commander of Nsuaem “SP Jonas Agbevam”, the deceased and convict are known to be natives of Gomoa Tarkwa, legally married for eight years and they have stayed in Mile 5 for five years.

He further explained that this violent and cruel act of her husband, aroused after a scuffle over Mr, Eric not helping his wife in managing their marital home and two kids whilst she has been doing tedious works as wife to take care of the family.

He indicated that the unconcerned lifestyle of the deceased’s husband, triggered her emotions to request for a divorce as she was fed up with such marriage.

In her attempt to leave the house with her belongings, her angry husband used a machete to severe off her hands and arms, and left her in a pool of blood in their cocoa farm around 9 am on Wednesday, 3rd June 2020.

SP Jonas stated that he assigned a team of police to rush to the scene immediately after getting the information. Fortunately, the eye witness to the incident had already positioned her on a tricycle, transporting the victim to the nearby hospital for treatment. The victim was then rushed to Dixcove hospital for treatment but was referred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital due to her critical condition

 “We later sent the arms and hands that were cut off from the body to the hospital”.

SP Jonas added

He explained that measures have been put in place to help capture the convict who fleed the scene immediately after he butchered his wife, hence, requesting the members of the community to assist the police investigative team, to find and arrest the culprit.

The lifeless body of the deceased has been conveyed to the morgue of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
