Two Contractors Die After A Fenced Wall Collapsed At Ashongman Estate

The sudden collapse of a fence in the Estate of Ashongman has led to the demise of two contractors and serious injury to the surviving casualty.

The casualties involved in this accident, include the deceased ” Richard Darko and Richard Ankrah” and the injured casualty, ”  Tommy Dogbenu” who is being managed and treated at a community hospital in Ashongman Estate.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency,” Head of Accra Regional Police Public affairs “(DSP Effia Tenge ” explained that, the sad incident happened on Saturday dated 5th June 2020.

She indicated that the police command became aware of the situation, after a call came through, reporting to them about a collapsed fence wall which had fallen on some workers at the site of construction, leading to severe injury to the three casualties, causing the sudden demise of the other two.

“A team proceeded to the scene and found a male adult whose name was given as Richard Ankrah lying dead in a gutter under construction,”

“Two other workers, including Darko, were said to have been rushed to the Ashongman Community Hospital, but Darko died shortly on arrival.

“Information received from the Hospital explained that Dogbenu, 36, who was seriously injured, has been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital”.

DSP Tenge explained.

According to DSP Tenge, houses which got affected by the construction, have been brought down by the officials of NADMO, to prevent any accident, She added that bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the mortuary for autopsy and preservation till the date of burial.
