President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo commends the Gonja police for arresting 5 suspects in connection with 90-year old woman Mariam Akua Denteh’s death
The late Mariam Akua Denteh was a mother of 6 and grandparent to 24 grandchildren, she was gruesomely murdered by locals of the Kafaba community in the East Gonja Municipality claiming she was a witch
According to the president, such an act was uncivilized and it created an ill impression about the country on the world map
The president then commended the members of the police force who ensured the arrest of these suspects awaiting trial in court.
We all know how chieftaincy disputes could end up affecting communities and the nation as a whole and I hope they continue to support the government in ensuring peace and sanity in our communities

Furthermore, the President acknowledged the efforts of the Vice President of the Gonja Traditional Council and his sub-chiefs in ensuring peace in the Gonja municipality.
