The death of a resident of Juapong, identified as Samuel Nyamador, who met his untimely death after he was attacked, shot and killed by Armed robbers when he was returning home from work with his wife, has caused angry youth of the town to protest, seeking for justice, immediate arrest of the convicts involved and protection of their people against such acts.

According to sources, the deceased businessman was killed in an area called deeper life, a sub-area of Juapong in the Volta Region of Ghana on Tuesday, 11th August.

The protest made by these youth was very critical as it involved burning of car tyres, blockage of roads and destruction of some properties on Wednesday 12 August 2020.

The protest of the youth of the area of the incident, resulted from the unnecessary delay of the police after they were contacted to come to their aid amid the attack of the armed robbers.

A resident identified as Edward Mokley explained in an interview with Adom TV on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show that this incident isn’t the first to happen as they have been attacked several times in the locality which has induced some fears in the residents of Juapong.

“Mr. Nyamador was a very good friend of mine and has done nothing wrong to deserve this. The wife told us that they were going back home when they were attacked by three armed men. She says her husband offered them money which they declined asserting that they were not after money but his life. So in his attempt to run away, he was shot in the back,”

He stated

He added that the youth made the protest fiercely because they were furious about how armed robbers who are been arrested for such cases are released after a short period of time.

They are requesting that their security and protection are tightened to prevent such occurrences in the future and to also protect the members of the community.
