Sammy Gyamfi, the communications officer of the National Democratic Congress,(N.D.C), who is well known for his controversial attacks on the NPP, has for the first time acclaim the Free SHS policy, implemented by the ruling party which is the NPP.

Speaking in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat, he explained that, the ability of the NPP government to implement this policy in their first term of office, has been a good hallmark as it has indeed given opportunities to many people to continue their education.

Free Senior High School policy which was started in the year 2017, as part of the projects of the government has indeed been a blessing to Ghanaians as the less privileged from poor homes, have been able to enroll in school to further their education and to chase their dream.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, though the free SHS policy implemented is great but the system is poor due to poor governance and structuralization, hence, a good government and sytem is needed for it to be well structured for better productivity.

“…commend them (NPP government)? certainly not infrastructure because that is an area they performed poorly.

There have been some positive programs that they’ve started but I have problems with implementation. A program like Free SHS, it’s a good program.” he said.

In his closing take on Akufo-Addo’s Free SHS Policy, he said the NDC initiated the policy and shaped it into what it is now.

“We conceived it, incorporated it in the 1992 constitution under article 25…we said progressive, we actually commenced it in 2015.

They said wholesale but they did it in a progressive manner…I will not say salute but I’ll commend them…they’ve done well for commencing it, for implementing it…
