The ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, MacKenzie Scott is now the wealthiest woman in the world since Amazon shares soared during the lockout of coronavirus.

Scott, who holds a 4 percent stake in the e-commerce giant, added another $30.3 billion in the past year to her bank accounts, bringing her net worth to a whopping $67.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The surge comes after Amazon stocks have skyrocketed with shares rising from just under $2,000 to $3,500 since the beginning of 2020 alone.

The boost to Scott’s wealth makes her the world’s richest woman, and the world’s 12th richest person.

Recall, in 2019, she received a quarter of Bezos’ Amazon shares in a divorce settlement for the couple. The agreement made the novelist the 22nd richest person in the world and third richest woman in the world at the time.

In January 2019, the pair had declared that they were divorcing after 25 years of marriage, and four children had been exposed after the alleged affair of the tech entrepreneur with former news anchor Lauren Sanchez.

Scott’s ex-husband, Bezos, is the world’s richest person with a net worth of $205 billion, while Bill Gates is second on the Bloomberg Billionaires with $126 billion to his credit.
