A Ghanaian who works as a cleaner in Manchester has been jailed for spending money which was mistakenly sent into her account by a charity company.
A report by BBC has stated that Comfort Konadu, who lives in Manchester, has been jailed for 15 months for stealing.
Comfort, believed to be Ghanaian, returned an item to a charity shop for a £9 refund when she was mistakenly paid £90,000 instead.
The report mentions that instead of Comfort alerting her bank or the charity of the unexpected windfall, she rather squandered £31,0000 in a day by sending some to her family and relatives after she transferred £57,000 into other accounts.
The 52-year-old is said to be a grandmother of 12 and pleaded guilty of theft at Manchester Crown Court.
The judge, Nicholas Dean QC said Konadu “fell prey to the temptation to use the money she knew perfectly well wasn’t hers”.
The video has been fast trending on all social media platforms and has raised a serious argument among netizens with some stating it was not her fault and some applauding for her arrest.
