Gospel musician and songwriter Celestine Donkor, in a recent interview, has said that all secular artistes sound the same during performances.
The gospel musician who got wowed by rapper Eno Barony at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards took her social media to thump the rapper upon her performance.
She took to her Instagram, posted a photo of Eno, and wrote;
My first time seeing her perform live yesterday…..this lady… @eno_barony …..from my little songwriting perspective….. SHE IS DOPE, DOPPER, DOPPEST!!
The post she made attracted some heavy backlash from fans and some gospel music lovers on social media.
Celestine Donkor has, however, explained why fell in love with secular music performance.
Speaking in an interview with MzGee on ‘Simply Showbiz,’ she stated that that was the first time she experienced Eno perform, and the performance caught her attention.
Celestine explained that Eno’s performance at the VGMA was spot on, unlike most secular shows she’s seen.
If you want secular shows, their stage demeanour, shouts, and chants are the same
But with Eno on a rap that right, the right that night, the lyrical content, she is real, she’s natural and anybody who is good at writing would understand what I am talking about
I have not seen any female rapper that dope in Ghana.
