The motor riders association of Ghana popularly known as Okada business have reacted to the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s comment over the Okada legalization saga
According to Dr. Bawumia the National Patriotic Party (NPP) will not be pressured to legalise Okada business because it is too risky as they easily get killed during an accident.
Reacting to this, the Chairman of the association Fatawu Ali said
the youth have already involved themselves so we are expecting regulations on it
Okada picks just one passenger but looks at the accidents that happened on our roads recently, how many people died?
we are ‘okada’ riders. We are not drivers so if they will give us a car, when are we going to learn to drive? Even if you are driving, still you are in danger. How many of us can get a car because we are thousands across the nation?
he said
He added that there are over a thousand riders across the country so what the government needs to do is to introduced and implement rules and regulation instead of the cars Bawumia was talking about
We don’t agree with that. We like the ‘okada’ because even residents in the Vice President’s village are using ‘okada.’ We need to find a safety solution instead of the car. Most of us are already in the ‘okada’ business
he added
