Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, The Director of Advocacy and Engagement of the Northern Elders Forum (NEFA), has descended on the bride to be and daughter in law of Atiku, over her dressing amid her marriage ceremony.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, condemned her dressing as he considered it unIslamic and a threat to the faith of Islam.
Also, comparing her dressing to that of Fatima Ribadu, the newly wedded wife of Aliyu Abubakar, the son of the former vice president of Nigeria, they considered hers to be culturally and Islamically unacceptable.
Taking pictures in her wedding dress has sparked controversies on social media, as other Muslims have joined as they lambast her for going against the laws of Islam as a Muslim.
In the reaction of Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, he tweeted:
“Today I saw pictures of a Muslim bride dressed in a manner totally unbecoming of her faith and culture, fewer things made me sadder. I appeal to our young people and our parents to stop aping cultures that are not ours”.
“They promote Islamic Shari’a among the poor masses of Northern Nigeria but nobody tramples on Islamic norms, values, and standards like them. This extremely corrupt Northern oligarchy uses Islam as an opiate of the masses”.
