Thomas Partey’s Father Tells How He Sold All His Lands To Raise Money For Him To Travel Abroad To Pursue His Football Career

Mr. Jacob Partey, the biological father of Black Stars player, Thomas Partey, has recounted how he had to part with his cherished pieces of land just to fuel his son’s dream of becoming a footballer.

In a report sighted on Pulse.com.gh, Mr Jacob Partey narrated the role he played in his son’s career which saw him joining Spanish side, Atletico Madrid.

He indicated that he was not well-to-do at the time so he parted with more than just land but had to sell some other properties as well to see his son make it in life.

While speaking on Accra-based Hot FM’s sports show, ‘Focal Sports’, Mr Jacob Partey is reported to have said:

”It wasn’t easy for Partey to leave Ghana to Spain. I had to sell my lands and many properties to help my son”.

Before going international with his footballing talent, Partey played for Ghanaian sides Odometah and GPL side Tema Youth.

He then got noticed and moves were made for him to join Atletico Madrid’s youth side in the 2011/2012 season.

Partey’s sterling performances in the youth level saw him getting promoted to the first team in 2013 – just 2 seasons after making his debut for the youth side.

The Ghanaian midfielder was then loaned to Mallorca and Almeria so he could hone his skills and get enough playing time.

Partey returned to Atletico Madrid in the 2015/2016 season and became a first-team player till his recent big money move to England.

He has now joined Arsenal in the English Premier League in a record-breaking move that sees him becoming one of the most expensive Africans in the game of football.

Thomas Partey is currently in the camp of the Black Stars in Turkey preparing for their international friendlies against Mali and Qatar on October 9 and 12 respectively.
