The investigative journalist Salis Yakubu Atsuluho whose alleged recorded video has birthed the US$40,000 bribery scandal has given a detailed account of events leading up to the meeting with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and why he recorded the encounter with the President.

The President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo-Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has faced allegations of taking a sum of $40,000.00 bribe to cease the incessant calls for the removal of Alhaji Abass Awolu from office as the directoof Urban Roads has been released online.

The video of the incident started trending on December 1, 2020 on social media that sees the first gentleman of the land Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo taking money from Dr. Agyei Bawuah, Ghana’s ambassador to the United States to beg on behalf of Alhaji Abass Awolu with a woman named, Hajia Fawzia Karim and her said brother, click here to watch the full video.

After the video surfaced online, the NPP released an unedited version of the video that really proved it was just a donation and not a bribe as it was speculated by the NDC.

From the original video released by the NPP, it was recorded when Nana Addo was then vying to be elected as President and the money received was to support his campaign and not a bribe as the NDC want people to believe, click here to watch the original video released by the NPP.

The woman sighted in the supposed bribe video of President Akufo-Addo taking $40,000 in a brown envelope that went viral days ago has broken silence in an interview on Asaase Radio.

As stated by the woman identified as Hajia Fawzia Karim, the said video was recorded in 2016 when the Akufo-Ado was the presidential candidate for then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and detailed that she just went there to render money to support the party, click here to watch her full video.

Well, the person who recorded the video himself in the person of Salis Yakubu Achilo has finally broken his silence in an exclusive interview with Kevin Ekow Taylor on his ‘With All due Respect’ show.

According to Salis, people should disregard the comment by the NPP that the video was recorded in 2016 because he recorded the said video in July 2017.

Explaining why he secretly recorded the video, he revealed that Abass is a Director at Urban Roads was having issues with some contractors who wanted him out so they could replace him with his deputy.

The director after knowing what the contractors where up to decided to start paying some monies to the President so he(Nana Addo) doesn’t give in to their pressure but all those monies never got to the Nana Addo.

He continued that Abass then called on one Ama Busia to lead him to the president but she told Abass that the best person to lead him to the President was no other than Dr Bawua who is Ghana’s ambassador to the United States of America.

Dr Bawua who agreed to go with Abass and Salis demanded an amount of Ghc10,000 which they paid.

Abass who couldn’t go with Salis and Dr Bawua requested that his wife Hajia Fawuzia replace him as they go to see Nana Akuffo Addo.

Salis concluded that he recorded the video which he later showed to Abass as proof that they had gone met the President and everything is now in order.
