The Electoral Commission of Ghana has spoken in a press release as it refutes claims by the NDC that the 2020 election data has already been destroyed ahead of a potential court battle.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana on Friday, 18 December 2020 released a press statement which comes shortly after NDC claimed that Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) were deactivated by the EC which is in contravention to electoral laws.

Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) were only enabled before the election to ensure that no one was checked before the election day and those BVDs were deactivated after the election but do not erase any data in any way, the EC reveals in a press released.

EC also guarantees Ghanaians that it has retained some form of data relating to the 2020 Election, including presidential and parliamentary being it physical or electronic records.
