The Electoral Commission of Ghana led by Mrs. Jean Mensa has rubbished claims of voting padding in favour of President Nana Akufo-Addo in the just-ended general elections and reveals it as false.

The NDC’s hierarchy on Thursday, December 17, 2020, alleged that the Electoral Commission (EC) stole the verdict of the election for Akufo-Addo through deliberate vote padding.

The party said the nefarious activity was perpetrated in polling stations across the nation, particularly in Ejisu, Manhyia North, Akrofuom among other constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

The EC, however, described the claims as false.

A source at the commission told state-owned GNA that the NDC’s accusations that stamped ballots were issued to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) before the elections were sad.

President Nana Akufo-Addo was declared the winner of the keenly contested elections. He collected 51.302 of the ballots, according to the chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, while the presidential candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, polled 47.359%. Mahama rejected the outcome, arguing the verdict was “stolen” in favour of the president.

As a result, supporters of the umbrella fraternity have been protesting nationwide to register their displeasure over the results.
