Andrew Asiamah Amoako who was voted for as an independent candidate has officially joined the governing NPP Caucus in Parliament
Before the general election which took pace on 7 December 2020, the New Patriotic Party rejected him leaving his with no choice but to stand as an independent candidate and won.
However, regardless of the fact that he was rejected by the party, the independent Member of Parliament for Fomena has made his association with the NPP formal in a letter to the Speaker, Alban Bagbin.
It comes on the back of endless debate and tension as to which side will form the majority in the eighth Parliament.
Both the NPP and the NDC have 137 seats with one independent legislator.
The letter dated Wednesday, January 13, 2021, read:
For the avoidance of doubt, I do hereby affirm that I shall cooperate and collaborate with the NPP caucus in parliament
