Alban Bagbin has refuted claims made by Honorable Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and Honorable Alex Afenyo Markin that, he became the Speaker of 8th Parliament based on the compromise of the NDC and NPP MPs.
The leader of the New Patriotic Party caucus in parliament and his deputy have been exposed by the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin.
Honorable Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu who happens to be the member of parliament for the Suame Constituency and Honorable Alex Afenyo Markin, the member of parliament for the Efutu Constituency have admitted in several interviews that, the National Democratic Congress members in parliament were threatening to delay the swearing-in of Akufo-Addo so they had to settle on a compromise with them.
According to some various interviews they had, they intimated that they had to come to a compromise with the members of the NDC caucus in parliament, for peace to prevail in order not to delay the swearing-in of the president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to them, after Honorable Carlos Ahenkorah snatched the ballot papers away, they had nothing but to come to a compromise with the NDC caucus in parliament in order not to delay the investiture of the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to their admission, they mean that they agreed with the NDC MPs to make Alban Bagbin the Speaker of Parliament and not through election.
According to the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin during the first sitting of the eighth parliament of the Republic of Ghana, he proved the claims of the leaders of the New Patriotic Party caucus in parliament wrong.
Alban Bagbin brought to light that, he was elected as the speaker of parliament through the voting exercise organized in the parliament house of Ghana, where he had more votes than Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye, making the winner.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has therefore exposed Honorable Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and Honorable Alex Afenyo Markin by refuting their claims that, he became the Speaker of Parliament based on the compromise of the NDC and NPP MPs.
