On this article today, we are going to be looking at the 12 longest serving presidents in Africa.

1- Paul Biya (Cameron)

Paul Biya is 87 years old and he is the current president of Cameroon, he was born as Paul Barthélemy Biya’a bi Mvondo on the 13th of February 1933.

The politician has reigned in the Cameroon and has ruled them for over 38 years, he assumed office in 1982 and till date he is still the president.

2- Teodoro Obiang (Equatorial Guinea)

Teodoro Obiang is the incumbent president of Equatorial Guinea,he is 78 years old and he has ruled the country for a very long time now. Born as Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, on the 5th of June 1942, the Equatoguinean politician, has reigned as the president of the country since August 1979.

He took over power from his own uncle in a successful military coup d’etat. He has ruled Equatorial Guinea for approximately 42 years.

3- Museveni (Uganda)

Museveni is the incumbent president and also the president elect of Uganda, he won the just concluded Uganda election, in which his greatest opposition Bobi Wine, contested as a presidential candidate.

Born Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni, he is 76 years old and has ruled the country since 1986, which means he has ruled the country for approximately 34 years.

4- Denis Nguesso (Republic Of Congo)

The fourth president on the list today, is the president of The Republic of Congo Denis Nguesso, the president has ruled the country for a long time now and we don’t think he is ready to back down, as reports have it that he might go for a rerun in 2021.

Born Denis Sassou Nguesso born 23 November 1943, the 77 years old president, has ruled Republic of Congo since 1997, it’s also worthy to note that he ruled the country also from 1979 to 1992. Denis Sassou Nguesso has ruled Republic of Congo for approximately 22 years.
