President Nana Akufo-Addo in his second term has scrapped the Deputy Regional Minister positions and has made changes to some ministries
President Akufo-Addo had in his first term 36 substantive ministers and seven ministers of state overall.
There were also 48 deputy ministers, as well as 16 regional ministers and 16 deputy regional ministers, bringing the total number of ministers and deputy ministers to 123.
An official statement from the Office of the President announces that Deputy Regional Ministers will not be appointed any longer.
With the changes of the ministries, the statement reads
the President has effected this realignment because virtually all these special-purpose Ministries have achieved the purposes for which they were established
In all, President Akufo-Addo will appoint a total of 30 Ministers, and 16 Regional Ministers, bringing the total number of Ministers to 46

The seven ministries realigned are: Aviation, Business Development, Inner City and Zongo Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Planning, Regional Re-organisation and Development, and Special Development Initiatives and abolished the Senior Minister position that was occupied by Yaw Osafo Maafo.

Eight of this number are women – six Ministers and two Regional Ministers. This is the list that will be submitted to Parliament by the President on Thursday
