Another police officer identified as Constable Yelnona Eugene commits suicide following the suicide of one policeman in the Jomoro Municipality of Western Region which took place at the Police Headquarters in Accra in less than 72 hours
The latest comes days after the Municipal Commander for Half Assini in the Western Region, Superintendent McCarthy Zenge was found dead in his room with a suicide note suggesting that he is fed up with life and wanted to end it all.
According to our sources, Constable Yelnona Eugene stationed at National Protection Unit (NPU) has been unwell for some time and as a result, went on leave for treatment.
After returning to work on 29 January 2021, requested an extension of his leave as he was still unwell. He was denied the extension and posted to the residence of a certain Mr. Olympio, a Togo opposition exile in Ghana who resides at Ridge to be on guard duty.
Unfortunately, Constable Yelnona Eugene is alleged to have shot himself this dawn in a washroom at his post when nobody was around.
