President Akufo-Addo is expected to address the nation on Sunday evening of February 28. The import of the president’s statement will be on the national vaccine program for the Covid-19 spread.

His address will also see him give an update on the state of recent restrictions he introduced – regarding the ban on public gatherings (parties, weddings).

The Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Delese Mimi Darko said Ghana is on the verge of manufacturing her own COVID-19 vaccine.

Speaking on Accra-based Asaase FM on Thursday, February 25, 2021, Darko said a committee had been engaged to look at “researching into our own vaccine.”

Ghana on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, as part of the UN-led COVAX Facility took delivery of some 600,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine licensed to the Serum Institute of India (AZ/SII) arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on an Emirates Airlines cargo, EK787.

The government could consider closing schools for students in kindergarten and lower primary to avoid the spread of the virus among the kids.

The government may impose another Lockdown to ensure contact tracing of people infected with the virus and provide them special treatment.

President Nana Akufo-addo in his 21st nation’s address made it clear to Ghanaians that, government will have no option but to impose restrictions of which includes partial Lockdown, if the cases of covid-19 continues increasing.
