Sub-Saharan African direct broadcast satellite service owned by MultiChoice, DStv has been trending all day for very unpleasant reasons.

Ghanaian users of the service have expressed their displeasure at the turn on events relating the charges applied to the service even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

MultiChoice Ghana Limited, one of Ghana’s pay television brands in 2019 announced that effective November 1, 2019 prices of its subscription will go up due to the increase in the Communication Service Tax (CST) by the government.

Subsequently, the prices did not reduce even when the 9% CST charges were reduced by the government later.

Earlier, MultiChoice sent messages to their service users announcing another increment effective April 1, 2021 without a peculiar reason and this is the source of the DStv’s trending on Twitter as users showcase their frustration.

For instance Family package which was initially GHC80 would go for GHC85.
