Six persons have drowned in the Volta Lake in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region, the police in the region confirmed on Thursday March 18.
The accident occurred after a canoe they were travelling on capsized on the lake, according to the Police.
The police indicated that efforts by some fishermen to save the victims proved futile.
Four other persons on board the canoe managed to swim to safety, according to media reports.
This comes after some twenty children also got drowned at the Apam beach in the Central region.
