Physically challenged woman, Portia Essa whose blindness was caused by her sisters has shared her sad story in an interview with DJ Nyame of SVTV.
SVTV’s DJ Nyame and crew are currently at the Central Region in a town called 3hw3 Saakyi where they heard the sad story of Madam Essa.
Madam Essa said she lost her father when he came to Saakyi in search of land and work. According to her, the work her father had which they were feeding from was later taken away from them after his death.
Speaking on how she got blind at the age of 13, madam Portia Essa revealed that she has other siblings, she visited one who had delivered baby to take care of the child and a wealthy man at the area promised to marry her.
According to her, upon her sisters hearing the news that a man has promised her marriage, then used her as a topic and was telling people especially their in-laws about that.
Madam Essa stated that in their family, there are lesser gods and that she suspects her sisters reported her to the gods which she turned blind as a result.
Madam Portia disclosed that she is okay at where she lives. She added that she lives alone and her blindness is not an inability for her to beg for food, adding that she does all the work at where she stay; cleaning, feeding etc.
She asserted that she can stay alone however, she needs help from people when it comes to water and food she will consume.
Aside the food and water she revealed as her major need, Madam Essa stated that she feels pains in her wrist and some body parts because of the active works she does.
DJ Nyame and the SVTV Africa foundation donated bags of rice, drinks and other valuable items to Madam Essa.
