DeVon Franklin is an American producer, author, and motivational speaker. He is best known for the films Miracles from Heaven, Heaven Is for Real, and The New York Times Best Seller book The Wait, which he co-wrote with his then-wife Meagan Good.

Yes! Good and DeVon were once married but in recent weeks, the actress has been seen getting intimate with disgraced actor Jonathan Majors, prompting dating rumors between the two. Good and Majors were spotted holding hands while boarding a plane from New York City to Los Angeles, last month.

DeVon Franklin recently said it doesn’t ‘upset’ him seeing his ex-wife Meagan Good with her new boyfriend Jonathan Majors, adding that she’s happy.

In the past, Good had revealed her divorce from DeVon was especially difficult because she didn’t want to follow in the footsteps of her parents, who had also split up after 10 years of marriage.

Devon, on the other hand, has commented on how he still feels about the actress on “The Breakfast Club”. But, fans are curious about what happened between the former husband and wife that caused their split. Read on to know more about how they met and why they divorced.

When did DeVon and Meagan divorce?

In December 2021, after nine years of marriage, Franklin filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Good and Franklin announced their divorce in December 2021 after nine years of marriage and finalized the split in June 2022, just a week after what would have been their 10-year anniversary.

The decision to divorce wasn’t hers, the Harlem star shares in her first ESSENCE solo cover interview as she details the difficulties resulting from the fallout of the marriage.

“It’s nothing that I would have ever chosen, and when I realized that it was happening, I was devastated,” said Good, 41. “I was like, ‘This is me, Lord. I did everything that I could do to the best of my ability. I don’t understand why I did all these things, and then this is my end result.'”

Franklin who filed for the divorce cited irreconcilable differences.

“After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected,” Good, 40, and Franklin, 43, share in a joint statement.

“We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love,” they continue.

“We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other,” the pair adds.

Six months before publicly sharing their decision to divorce, Good and Franklin posted anniversary tributes to one another to mark their ninth year of marriage.

On June 16, Good shared a nearly 4-minute highlight reel of their relationship on Instagram.

“To the love of my life, my husband, purpose partner, happy anniversary!!” the Harlem star wrote. “This makes #9 and eternity you go! You are the best decision I’ve ever made (besides loving Jesus lol). I love you with everything inside me. In this life and in the next.”

DeVon Franklin on his divorce from his ex-wife Meagan Good

DeVon Franklin says that there were nights he would cry himself to sleep after his divorce from Meagan Good. Franklin reflected on his relationship with his ex-wife of 10 years during an appearance on The Breakfast Club on Thursday.

“Mentally, I’m doing much better,” Franklin clarified to begin the conversation. “But the process to that, like, I can sit here before all of you and have this interview and be calm and introspective and all that. But that comes from a process, you know?”

“I mean, there are nights [where] I’m crying myself to sleep,” he further admitted. “There are moments when I’ve been angry, but I’ve allowed myself to feel whatever I felt in order to heal because in my experience when I’m not facing what I’m feeling, then I’m trying to find something else to help me get through the pain.” From there, he added that there is no ill will between the two: “The love for us has not gone away. It’s just changed form.”

Meagan Good has shared similar sentiments about their split when addressing the divorce in interviews of her own. Speaking with ESSENCE back in March, Good explained that she was “devastated” by the divorce. “It’s nothing that I would have ever chosen, and when I realized that it was happening, I was devastated,” she explained at the time. “I was like, ‘This is me, Lord, I did everything that I could do to the best of my ability. I don’t understand why I did all these things, and then this is my end result.’”
