SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher was married to Peter Marc Jacobson but divorced – Does the actress have a new husband and children?
Fran Drescher is one of the most celebrated actresses in the industry. Drescher started her career in 1977 with Saturday Night Fever. Following that, she was seen in a number of famous films and TV shows. These included Spinal Tap, Terror in the Towers, Jack, and The Beautician and the Beast.
However, it was her work in the series The Nanny and Happily Divorced that helped her gain a lot of attention. She was also nominated for two Golden Globe Awards for the same series.
In September 2021, the trade union SAG-AFTRA elected Fran Drescher as their new president.

Who is Fran Drescher married to?
Actor-turned-SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher is currently assumed to be single. She’s not married and hence has no husband and she is not in any relationship, hence she has no boyfriend.
Though she’s single, Drescher revealed in 2020 that she is having fun with a “friend with benefits.” “It’s delightful and delicious,” the actress told Page Six, “but I’ve got a big life.”
In January 1985, two armed robbers broke into Drescher and Jacobson’s Los Angeles apartment. While one ransacked their home, Drescher and a female friend were raped by the other robber at gunpoint. Jacobson was also physically attacked, tied up, and forced to witness the entire ordeal.
It took Drescher many years to recover, and it took her even longer to tell her story to the press. She was paraphrased as saying in an interview with Larry King that although it was a traumatic experience, she found ways to turn it into something positive. In her book Cancer Schmancer, the actress writes: “My whole life has been about changing negatives into positives.” According to Drescher, her rapist, who was on parole at the time of the crime, was returned to prison and given two life sentences.
Who is Fran Drescher’s ex-husband?
Drescher was previously married to Peter Marc Jacobson, an American television writer, director, producer, and actor. Her ex-husband is best known as the showrunner of the popular sitcom The Nanny, which he created and produced with his then-wife, Fran Drescher, who also starred in the series.
Fran and Peter met during their schooling days at Hillcrest High School in Jamaica, Queens when she was 15 years old. She married him in 1978, at age 21, but they got divorced in 1999.
Back in 2020, the actress, 65, opened up about how she moved on after a very public divorce from her husband of 21 years, Peter Marc Jacobson, in 1999 (after which he publicly revealed he is gay), and how she found love again — with herself!
“I think that I’ve had to very consciously work on not being codependent, not being fearful of being by myself or doing things by myself,” says Drescher, who met Jacobson in high school and married in 1978. “I really had to make a concerted effort to get past that. And I think that I am good with it now. But still, I’m not like, ‘I’d rather stay home by myself than go out and do things by myself.’ But then whenever I do things by myself, I enjoy it.”
She adds, “And then I think, that hiccup phase where I don’t push myself to do it, until the next time I do. So I think that that’s been a big hurdle in my life that I needed to conquer. And getting really connected to myself has been a great journey because now, I’m not even feeling like I have to be in a relationship, because I’m in a relationship with myself — and it’s going quite well.”
Drescher has worked to support LGBT rights issues after her former husband came out.
Drescher recalls the moment her marriage with Jacobson began to spiral.
“I wasn’t feeling as happy as I thought I’d feel with money, and fame, and creative control,” she says. “Peter started to have control issues that I found somewhat suffocating, and only in hindsight, do we now understand that he was working so hard to control his authentic self, his true orientation.”
Two years after the marriage ended, Jacobson told Drescher he is gay. However, the duo remains close friends to this day.
“I now lovingly refer to Peter as my gay ex-husband,” says the Indebted actress.

Who else did Fran Drescher date?
Fifteen years later following her divorce from her ex-gay-husband, Fran Drescher was in a relationship with Shiva Ayyadurai. The duo had participated in a ceremony at Drescher’s beach house on September 7, 2014, and surprisingly, it turned out they were married.
Ayyadurai later said it was not “a formal wedding or marriage,” but a celebration of their “friendship in a spiritual ceremony with close friends and her family.” The couple parted ways two years later.

He has become known for promoting conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, and unfounded medical claims. Ayyadurai holds four degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), including a Ph.D. in biological engineering, and is a Fulbright grant recipient.
Does Fran Drescher have any children?
“The Nanny” star Fran Drescher may have played a caregiver to three on-screen children, but in real life, she is not a mother yet even in her 60s. She has never had kids of her own. There are also no reports about her giving birth to a son or a daughter.
