The five-foot-nine beauty graduated from Connecticut College and built a bustling modeling career, appearing in magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour.

She debuted as an actress in 1979, and made a splash co-starring with Martin Short on The Associates, a loose sequel to The Paper Chase.

Shelley played a no-nonsense, upper-class Wall Street law firm associate.

She graced the cover of TV Guide in November 1979 despite the show just lasting 13 episodes.

Shelley then starred in the 1983 NBC military drama For Love and Honor alongside Keenan Ivory Wayans for 12 episodes.

Her TV resume ran long into the ’90s as she appeared on Murder, She Wrote, and Magnum P.I.

Shelley also proved to be a formidable celebrity contestant in the game show boom.

She appeared on Super Password, Body Language and the Dick Clark-helmed $10,000 Pyramid (followed by its inflation-adjusted $25,000 and $100,000 versions).

Her skills helped the contestants she was paired with win thousands of dollars.
