American international acclaim conductor, Leonard Bernstein had three children and shared all his kids with his wife, Felicia Montealegre.

A new Netflix movie, titled Maestro, is set to be released about the the composer. Bradley Cooper is starring as Leonard Bernstein in the film, Maestro, which is set to stream on Netflix following its theatrical release on November 22.

The movie chronicles the life of the legendary composer, who was married to actor Felicia Montealegre.

In the movie, Carey Mulligan stars as the Chilean actor, who had a complex relationship with her composer husband.

In addition to leading the cast, Bradley serves as a producer and co-writer for the film. The Silver Linings Playbook star previously explained that he was grateful for the chance to bring Maestro to life after years of work.

“It’s been four and a half years in the making and I feel very grateful,” he said during an appearance on the Smartless podcast. “I just did all this research about this incredible family, the Bernsteins, and Felicia Montealegre, [Leonard’s] wife.” Bradley went on to explain that the music in the Maestro adds to its magic, comparing it to his work on the Oscar-winning movie, A Star Is Born.

Did Leonard Bernstein have any children?

Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre were married for over two decades. They tied the knot on September 9, 1951, when the conductor was 33 years old and while his wife was 30.

Leonard and Montealegre met in 1946 at a party given by Claudio Arrau. Their first engagement was broken off, and she subsequently had a several-year relationship with Broadway and Hollywood actor Richard Hart.

Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre stayed as husband and wife for 25 years and they became parents.

Jamie Bernstein is the first child and daughter of Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre.

By profession, Jamie is a writer, narrator, broadcaster, author, and filmmaker who has transformed a lifetime of loving music into a career of sharing her knowledge and excitement with others, per her website.

As an author, she is best known for Famous Father Girl: A Memoir of Growing Up Bernstein, which was published by HarperCollins in June of 2018, as the Leonard Bernstein centennial celebrations were at their peak all around the world.

Jamie writes articles and poetry, which have appeared in such publications as Symphony, DoubleTake, the nation, Opera News, and Musical America. She also edits “Prelude, Fugue & Riffs,” a newsletter about issues and events pertaining to her father’s legacy.

In her role as a broadcaster, Jamie has produced and hosted shows for radio stations in the United States and Great Britain. She has presented the New York Philharmonic’s live national radio broadcasts, as well as live broadcasts from Tanglewood.

Jamie is the co-director of a film documentary, Crescendo: the Power of Music, a film which has won numerous prizes on the festival circuit.

Jamie has also directed her father’s chamber opera, Trouble in Tahiti, in various locations around the country, including the Moab Music Festival, Festival del Sole in Napa, CA, and Tanglewood.

Jamie has been married but now divorced. Jamie is a devoted mom to her two grown children, Frankie and Evan.

Who is Alexander Bernstein?

Alexander Bernstein is a professional actor and author and the second child and only son to Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre.

Alex was born on 7 July 1955, in New York, New York, United States.

As an actor, he is known for movies like Daniel (1983), Tinder and Grinder (2014) and The Making of ‘West Side Story’ (1985). He was previously married to Kerry Armstrong, per his IMDb profile.

He is also the president of Artful Learning, Inc., and Vice President and Treasurer of The Leonard Bernstein Office, Inc.

Before acting, Bernstein taught for five years at the Packer-Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, New York, first as a second grade teacher, then as a teacher of drama for the middle school.

Alexander Bernstein recently completed his Doctorate at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland under the tutelage of John O’Conor in June 2020.

He has been married twice. His first wife was Kerry Armstrong and his current spouse is Elizabeth Velazquez, whom he married in 1995.

Who is Nina Maria Felicia Bernstein?

Nina Maria Felicia Bernstein is a musical artist and a former actress.

She is 61 years old; born on February 28, 1962, in New York City, United States. She is also the daughter and last child of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre.

She worked While acting, she worked several years at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge. She also worked with the Library of Congress on making the Bernstein Archives digitally available to the public.

From 2000 until 2005, Nina worked on a film about her sister, Jamie, and her remarkable journeys around the world bringing Bernstein’s music and teaching legacy to new audiences. Leonard Bernstein: A Total Embrace premiered in Germany in December of 2005.

She made a switch in career and moved from acting to her father’s legace, as an artist, and since 2008, she moved to work as a food educator in underserved communities.
