For close to 25 years, Jerry and Herb Alpert, presided over one of the most independent recording labels in the music industry. They produced blockbuster albums such as Alpert’s “Whipped Cream and Other Delights”, Peter Frampton’s “Frampton Comes Alive” among others.

What was the cause of Jerry Moss death?

The American recording executive, Jerry Moss, who was born on May 8,1935 graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in English. Jerry Moss also served in the United States Army for a while.

After doing all of this, Jerry Moss began his music career by promoting “16 Candles”, a 1958 hit for the Crests on Code Records.

Jerry Moss died at age of 88 in his home at Bel Air, California. The cause of his death according to his family’s statement is of natural cases.

The family statement said “They truly don’t make them like him anymore and we will miss conversations with him about everything under the sun. The twinkle in his eyes as he approached every moment ready for the next adventure.”

His friends and family have taken to social media to pay tribute to the co-founder of A&M Records.

Co-founder and his partner, Herb Alpert described him as the nicest, honest, sensitive and smart man. Alpert shared photos of him and Moss, and wrote; “I never met a nice, honest, sensitive and smart man than my partner, Moss.”

Guitarist Peter Frampton also paid tribute to Jerry Moss describing him as a true gentleman. He further said “He loved great music and went out of his way to make a place where artists could find themselves and create with this lovely encouragement and patience.”

The co-founder of A&M records, Jerry Moss, had estimated net worth of $800 million. Jerry Moss had been active recording executive since 60s and this contributed to his wealth over the years.

Moss established the record label A&M Records in 1962 along with Herb Alpert. The duo invested $200 in the formation of the company, and several artists like Cat Stevens and Sheryl Crow later joined the label.

In 1989, the company was sold for a price $500 million to PolyGram.
