American vocal coach and singer Barbara Gustern, 87, died few days after she was attacked by a stranger on March 15, 2022, in New York, New York, United States.
Shortly, CCTV footages showed the face of 28-year-old woman named Lauren Pazienza as responded for shoving or pushing the musical icon.
Ultimately, Lauren Pazienza was arrested in relation to Barbara Maier Gustern’s death.
Lauren Pazienza’s partner has got the attention of the public following her appearance in court on August 2023, where she was pleaded guilty and was sentenced on September 29.

Who is Lauren Pazienza’s fiancé Naveen Pereira?
Lauren Pazienza is in a relationship with a man named Naveen Pereira.
While Lauren Pazienza is a former communications and events coordinator who previously worked at furniture retailer Roche Bobois, her partner Naveen Pereira is a consultant at Microsoft.
Per reports, Pereira and Lauren Pazienza met at high school in Port Jefferson and remained lovers and were even engaged.
After high school, Pereira went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in computer science at Georgia Institute of Technology.
Prior to working for Microsoft, Pereira worked at IMB for nearly four years.
As of August 2023, it is not known when Pazienza and Pereira are due to get married.
Also, they are not known to be parents and hence, it is assumed they have no kids.
Living in Astoria, Queens, New York, Pereira and Lauren Pazienza had been living in a one-bedroom apartment in Shore Towers at the time of the incident.
According to public records, the apartment was last sold in 2019 for $540,000. Pazienza is listed as the owner, along with a relative.
Both continue to keep their social media accounts private.
What happened to Barbara Gustern?
On March 10, 2022, Gustern was waiting for a cab to take her to Joe’s Pub at the Public Theatre.
The 87-year-old Broadway vocal coach was on her way to see one of her students perform.
Pazienza then allegedly called Gustern a “b***h” before forcibly pushing her for no reason.
Gustern hit her head on the pavement, leaving a bleeding gash.
About half an hour after the attack, Pazienza and her Pereira were seen entering Penn Station, where they each swiped a MetroCard belonging to Pereira.
Detectives further tracked the couple from Penn Station to the Times Square subway station all the way back to Queens.
Following Gustern’s assault, she told a friend: “I’ve never been hit so hard in my life,” as she waited for medics and police to arrive.
She was helped by a bystander, but she lost consciousness as first responders rendered aid, according to the complaint.
Gustern was then taken to a hospital, where she was treated for what her grandson, AJ called “traumatic damage to the left side of her brain”.
She died five days later.
Prosecutors say that the victim did not recognize her assailant, and did not know why she was being attacked.
