Who was Dr Max Gomez?

Max Gomez, widely known as Dr. Max, was a Cuban-born American medical journalist.

Born in 1950, Gomez graduated cum laude from Princeton University (1973) and earned a Ph.D. from the Wake Forest School of Medicine (1978). He was also an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at New York’s Rockefeller University (1978–1980).

He worked alternatively as the medical correspondent and senior health editor for the flagship television stations WNBC and WCBS-TV in New York City.

Dr Max Gomez was a health anchor who was known for his outstanding reporting during the 2020 crisis.

New Yorkers remember him as the chief medical correspondent who guided them throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Gomez received many accolades and awards throughout his career for reporting on subjects ranging from 9/11 to the AIDs epidemic.

For reporting on twin girls with leukemia he won awards from The Marfan Foundation and the Leukemia Society of America.

Gomez won seven New York Emmy Awards and two Philadelphia Emmy awards. In addition to his broadcast work, Gomez served on the advisory board of HealthCorps.
