Lamar Hunt was a father of four before his death and shared his children with his two wives; Rosemary Carr and Norma Hunt. Let’s meet all of his kids.

Long known for his role in the development of football, Lamar Hunt was the principal founder of the American Football League (AFL) and Major League Soccer (MLS), as well as MLS’s predecessor, the North American Soccer League (NASL), and co-founder of World Championship Tennis.

He was also the founder and owner of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL), the Kansas City Wizards of MLS, and at the time of his death owned two other MLS teams, Columbus Crew and FC Dallas. In Kansas City, Hunt also helped establish the Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun theme parks.

The oldest ongoing national soccer tournament in the United States, the U.S. Open Cup (founded 1914), now bears his name in honor of his pioneering role in that sport stateside. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1972; into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1982; and into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1993. The National Soccer Hall of Fame bestowed upon Hunt their Medal of Honor in 1999, an award given to only three recipients in history thus far.

The greatest of all of his achievement are his family; his children and spouses. Lamar Hunt was married to Norma for over 40 years following his divorce from his first wife Rosemary Carr, until his death in 2006.

Meet the women who Lamar Hunt married before he died.

In his entire life, legendary former NFL player and founder of American Football League, Lamar Hunt was married twice. The names of his wives were Rose Mary Whittle Hunt and Norma Hunt.

His first wife was Rosemary Carr whom he married at the age of 24. Hunt and Carr were childhood sweetheart’s who met when both were teenager and went to the same school together.

The duo dated for a while and tied the knot after their graduation in 1956. The pair divorced in 1962, due in part to Hunt’s travel schedule.

His second marriage was to Norma Hunt, one of the names in NFL that will always be remembered, too.

Norma Hunt married Lamar in 1964, and was often referred to as “the first lady of football”. She has gone down in history as the only woman to attend every Super Bowl from 1967 until 2023.

At her final Super Bowl on February 12, 2023, she watched the Kansas City Chiefs win the Lombardi Trophy for the third time.

Norma was a school teacher and hostess for the Dallas Texans when she met her future husband, Lamar.

In 1963, Lamar moved The Texans to Kansas City and renamed them The Chiefs.

In all of Lamar’s marriage, he welcomed kids.

How many kids did Lamar Hunt have?

Before Lamar Hunt died in 2006, he was a father of four; three sons and a daughter. The names of his children are Lamar Hunt Jr., Sharron Hunt Munson, Clark Hunt, and Daniel Hunt.

From his first marriage to Rosemary Carr, he had his first son and only daughter – Lamar Jr. and Sharron.

He also shares his last two sons – Clark and Daniel with Norma, his wife at the time of his death.

On the death of their father Lamar on December 13, 2006, all four children – Lamar Jr, Sharron, Clark, and Dan – became co-owners of Kansas City Chiefs.

Lamar Hunt Jr. is the first child of football founder Lamar Hunt and his first wife Rosemary Carr.

Hunt’s eldest son was born on October 20, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, United States.

By profession, Lamar Hunt Jr. is an American businessman. Hunt is president and owner of the Kansas City Mavericks professional hockey team of the ECHL. He is the son of Lamar Hunt, grandson of oil tycoon H. L. Hunt, and part of the founding and operating family of the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team. 

Lamar Jr., 66, attended Dallas Baptist University, St. Mark’s School Of Texas, and University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).

Jocelyn Hunt was the first wife of businessman Lamar Hunt Jr. She and Lamar were married for nearly twenty years.

In 2003, Hunt married Rita Mae Hammerschmidt, who had two children from her prior marriage. He has nine grandchildren and resides in Kansas City.

Lamar is a parent of nine and shares his children with both his wives. They are also grandparents with eight grandchildren.

Sharron Hunt is the second child and only daughter of Lamar Hunt. Her mother is Rosemary Carr, the Kansas City Chiefs founder’s first wife.

Sharron Munson is married to Mark Munson, who is the president of the Kansas City Mavericks hockey team. They have four children together.

Sharron is active on social media and regularly share pictures of her four kids.

In December 2021, she shared that her mom Rosemary had passed away from Covid.

Who is Clark Hunt?

Clark Hunt is the first child between Lamar and his second wife, Norma Hunt.

He was born on February 19, 1965, in Dallas, Texas, United States, with the real name Clark Knobel Hunt.

By profession, Clark is chairman, CEO, and part owner of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs football team. He is also the founding investor-owner in Major League Soccer. Hunt is chairman of Hunt Sports Group, where he oversees the operations of the Chiefs, FC Dallas and, formerly, the Columbus Crew of MLS.

Clark is married to model v, and they have three children, daughters Gracie, Ava, and son Knobel.

Who is Daniel Hunt?

Daniel Hunt is the youngest child of late football legend Lamar Hunt and his wife Norma.

Dan Hunt was born on November 21, 1976, and followed in his father’s footsteps as the president of MLS club FC Dallas in 2012.

Dan was part of the successful Dallas bid for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup.

When did Norma Hunt pass away?

The Kansas City Chiefs shared the news of Norma’s death on June 4, 2023.

The cause of death for Norma is unknown, but tributes have flooded in for the beloved mother.

The Hunts released a statement reading: “Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of our mother, Norma.

“She was a wonderful mother and an extraordinary woman who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.”
