McCommon was apprehended by the Covington Police Department outside her residence and is currently being held on a $25,000 bond. She was observed in handcuffs, wearing a maroon long-sleeved tee shirt, grey joggers, and sneakers, before being transported to the Tipton County Jail.

Alissa McCommon faced suspension without pay on August 24 following allegations brought forth by a concerned parent, as confirmed by district leadership, said school officials.

The Covington Police Department has reported multiple juvenile victims who disclosed that they had established friendships with their former teacher, engaging in video games and social media interactions.

Allegedly, McCommon sent inappropriate photos to these juveniles and made requests for sexual relations with them.

Chief Turner expressed deep concern, stating, “It is unbearable. It’s unspeakable, and it’s 100 percent preventable. I think that’s why the detectives and we are so passionate about making sure victims are okay.”
