Aspiring model Nikki Nichole Coats died aged 32 in her apartment in LA, just two days after going on a date. Was she married with children?
Los Angeles residents Maleesa Mooney and Nichole Coats were nearby neighbors both aspiring to be models.
The two were found dead in their apartments days apart.
According to Nikki Coats’ family, she was headed on a date two days before she was found dead. This has led many to find out whether she was married or had a boyfriend and if she had any children as well. Here’s what we know.
Who was Nichole Coats?
Nichole “Nikki” Coats was a 32-year-old aspiring models living in the downtown Los Angeles area.
She was born to mother Sharon Coats and father “Mr. Coats” who were divorced but were supportive of their daughter’s career and well-being.
Coats worked as an assistant sales manager for an LA brand called HATCH COLLECTIVE.
In 2015, Coats received her Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising from California State University, Long Beach.
Through her modeling aspirations, ‘Nikki’ as she was affably called by her family and friends accumulated a hefty amount of followers on her social media accounts.
Was Nichole Coats married or dating anyone?
Aspiring model Nikki Nichole Coats was not known to have been married and hence, she had no husband or spouse.
Per her family and friends reactions and interviews with the media after her death, no information about her being a wife was said.
Also, she was not known to have been dating anyone, hence, she was assumed to be single with no boyfriend or partner.
According to her family, she headed on a date with an unknown man two days before she was found dead.
Did Nichole Coats have any children?
Not much details about Nichole Coats have been shared online by her family following her death but she is believed to have never given birth, hence, she had no kids.
She was seemingly much focused on her career and her family as they describe her as a loving and full of life.
What happened to Maleesa Mooney and Nichole Coats?
Fears about a serial killer on the loose have grown in one major US city after two aspiring models were found dead just days apart.
Maleesa Mooney and Nichole Coats were reported dead in their Downtown Los Angeles Apartments, located within less of a mile of each other, in the span of only two days.
A desparate search for Nichole Coats by her family after they reported to the police that they could not get in touch with her led to the discovery of her lifeless body in her apartment on Grand Avenue on September 10, 2023.
When police did a wellness check they found Nikki dead in her apartment. Nikki’s family told KTLA that her bed was covered in blood. Police have not yet ruled her death as a homicide, however, the Los Angeles County Coroner reported Coats’ death as “suspicious.”.
Two days later, on September 12, Maleesa Mooney, 31, was found brutally dead in her apartment and less than a mile away from Nikki’s after her family called in for a wellness check.
They became concerned after realizing Mooney’s blue text messages on her iPhone had turned green.
Maleesa’s family say they haven’t heard from her since September 6th after she returned home from a trip to Miami.
A report by TheShadeRoom reveals Maleesa was last seen going into her apartment with a group of friends. Later, the friends left but Maleesa stayed in the apartment and was later found deceased as her apartment flooded and the AC on full blast, saying the apartment was freezing
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating Mooney’s death as a homicide, local ABC affiliate KABC reported.
Maleesa’s sister says that investigators told her family the crime scene was so bad they had to investigate for 3 days.
The families of both women are concerned that these two deaths could be related and are desperate for any information that could shed more light on these investigations.
The LAPD told ABC News that it is too soon to determine whether the two cases are linked to one another.
The cases remain under investigation.
What have their families said about their deaths?
After the news broke about their deaths, their families have since released statements on the matter.
Coats’ mother, Sharon, released a public statement, saying: “This is senseless and I want some answers because my daughter is gone.
“And it’s not fair. I want everybody to find out who did this to her. She shouldn’t be gone… I believe it was murder, I really do.”
Mooney’s cousin told KTLA: “Her messages weren’t delivering and we knew something was up because we all have a special relationship with Maleesa.”
Jourdin Pauline remembered her sister as “someone who is a peacemaker in our family, someone that’s always been the backbone, and making sure everyone’s getting together, loving on each other.”
