EcoMap Technologies, Pava LaPere was found dead in her apartment aged 26 as Jason Billingsley, the suspected killer, is revealed to have a dark criminal past.

EcoMap Technologies was founded back in December 2018 by Pava LaPere and Kevin Carter.

While Pava was serving as the CEO as well as the founder, Carter was the Head of Biz Developer at the company.

The $7million eco-company consisted of a 30-person team and boasted big-name clients including The Aspen Institute, Meta, The WXR Fund, and T.Rowe Price Foundation.

According to LaPere’s LinkedIn, her company creates “platforms that enable people to navigate any ecosystem, from small business communities to entire industries. We’re on a mission to make the information around us more accessible”.

The young tech entrepreneur’s life was cut short after she was discovered on Monday, September 25, 2023, dead inside her Baltimore apartment.

TheSun reports that the police have named Baltimore resident Jason Dean Billingsley, 32, as a suspect in LaPere’s death and issued a warrant for his arrest on Tuesday evening.

Jason Dean Billingsley is the suspected murderer in the death of Lava LaPere.

Following Pava Marie LaPere’s tragic death, thorough investigations have been ongoing.

For now, the police have revealed Jason Billingsley, 32, to have a hand in the death of the 26-year-old tech CEO.

On September 26, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued for Jason Dean Billingsley, as per a tweet sent out by reporter Mikenzie Frost.

TheSun reports that Billingsley, the suspect in the muder, has had multiple previous arrests for violent crimes, including attempted rape and assault.

Billingsley is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and more.

The man has a criminal history, which includes an arrest in 2011 for attempted rape.

He was convicted in 2015 and hit with a 30-year sentence but was paroled in October 2022.

Billingsley was also arrested in 2013 and 2009 on charges of sexual offense, second-degree assault, and robbery.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley described Billingsley as “a repeat violent offender,” during a press conference on Tuesday.

“This individual will kill, and he will rape,” he said.

He also warned residents to stay away as Billingsley is “armed and dangerous.”

“To Jason Billingsley: I hope you are watching,” said Worley.

“Every single police officer in Baltimore and the state of Maryland is out there looking for you. We will find you, and we will prosecute you to the full extent of the law. So please turn yourself in.”

What happened to Pava LaPere?

Pava LaPere, 26, was found beaten to death in her Maryland apartment on Monday after police received reports of a missing person, per TheSun.

Her body was recovered by police shortly after a missing persons call was made for her on Monday morning. She had signs of blunt-force trauma.

The call and identity of the caller have not been released by police, and the investigation is ongoing.

EcoMap Technologies released a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, following their CEO’s tragic death, writing: “The circumstances surrounding Pava’s death are deeply distressing, and our deepest condolences are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly devastating time.

“Pava was not only the visionary force behind EcoMap but was also a deeply compassionate and dedicated leader.

They concluded: “Her untiring commitment to our company, to Baltimore, to amplifying the critical work of ecosystems across the country, and to building a deeply inclusive culture as a leader, friend, and partner set a standard for leadership, and her legacy will live on through the work we continue to do.” 

LaPere posted a final batch of pictures on her Instagram page two weeks before her murder showing some of her favorite moments from the last year.

“Each year I get the awesome chance to visit 20+ cities… but before I get too deep into this travel season, some shots from my favorite place with my favorite people,” she wrote.
