Northern Irish professional golfer Rory McIlroy and his wife, Erica Stoll, have one child, a daughter named Poppy who was born in 2020.

Rory McIlroy, who is a member of both the European and PGA Tours, is a former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking and has spent over 100 weeks in that position during his career.

He is a four-time major champion, winning the 2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA Championship, 2014 Open Championship and 2014 PGA Championship. Along with Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, he is one of three players to win four majors by the age of 25.

The pro has won 20 PGA Tour victories over the course of his career, and is one of only 3 golfers to hold the number one spot on the Official World Golf Ranking for over 100 weeks.

And while he is still achieving more in the world of golf, his biggest achievement is and will always remain him being a father.

How many children does Rory Mcllroy have?

Pro golfer, Rory Mcllroy is a proud father of one. He has one child, a daughter named Poppy Kennedy Mcllroy.

His baby girl and only child was born on August 31, 2020, in Jupiter, Florida.

He shares his kid with his wife, Erica Stoll, whom he met at the Ryder Cup, where she had been working as a PGA transport official, in 2012.

When Rory and Erica first became parents, the golfer who couldn’t hide his joy took to Instagram to share the news with his fans and followers.

Rory shared the happy news on Instagram alongside a black-and-white photo of the newborn holding his pinky finger. “Poppy Kennedy McIlroy, born August 31st, 12:15pm. She is the absolute love of our lives,” he captioned it.

Rory assured that “mother and baby are doing great” and wished a “massive thank you” to the medical staff at Jupiter Medical Center.

Rory said becoming a dad has put his career in perspective as he says she’s the star of his golf tournaments.

Poppy served as her dad’s caddy at the Masters Par 3 Contest in 2023.

Who is Poppy Kennedy Mcllroy?

Poppy Kennedy Mcllroy is a celebrity kid and the daughter of famed golf player, Rory Mcllroy and his sports executive spouse, Erica Stoll.

Poppy is a Virgo as she was born on August 31, 2020.

She was named after a flower, Poppy. The couple had wanted to either name Rose or Irish, per Rory’s interview with Golfweek.

“We really liked [Poppy]. I have a cousin of mine; her daughter is named Poppy. We know a few other Poppies. And we just really love the name,” he said.

Rory explained that Rose was ruled out after they realized it was too similar to his mother’s name, Rosie. A few of his pro golf buddies, including Alex Noran and Shane Lowry, also have daughters named Iris, and so they decided on Poppy.

“We wanted to go with something that was pretty unique, maybe more common back where I’m from, but we landed on Poppy and we loved it,” he said.

Who is Rory Mcllroy’s wife, Erica Stoll?

Erica Stoll, like her husband Rory Mcllroy, has a career in sports. She is an American sports administrator.

She was born on 10 September 1987, in Irondequoit, New York, United States.

The New Yorker attended Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated with a degree in marketing in 2008.

During her high school days, she was an avid tennis player, according to the Democrat and Chronicle.

Stoll previously worked for the PGA of America — a job she knew she wanted straight out of college. “The way PGA employees present themselves is so admirable and professional. That’s the kind of job I want, and it’s doing something I love,” she told the Democrat and Chronicle in 2008.

During her time with the organization, Stoll served as an office manager and the manager of championship volunteer operations.

Stoll does her best to keep her personal life out of the tabloids, and although she has an Instagram account, she keeps it private.
