The politician’s life was cut short after they were reported as passengers of a plane that crashed in October 2023.

Per reports, he was piloting the small plane on Sunday, October 1, and unexpectedly, it crashed after taking off from Canyonlands Airfield about 15 miles north of Moab.

Three of his family members, including his wife and two sons died from the incident.

Who was Doug Larsen married to?

Doug Larsen was married to his wife, Amy Larsen.

Although not much is known about their love story, including how they met, how long they were together and when/where they held their wedding ceremony, are not yet known to the media.

However, the duo were believed to have been together for years.

Who was Amy Larsen?

Larsen and his wife Amy were business owners. According to a Facebook account, Larsen was also a Realtor in North Dakota. The North Dakota Association of Builders revealed Amy served as a board member of the Bismarck-Mandan Home Builders Association for several years.

The couple reportedly volunteered for various Home Builders Association events. In a Facebook post, the association mourned the death of the Larsens and wrote:

“Our deepest condolences go out to the Larsen family following the tragic loss of ND State Senator Doug Larsen, his wife, Amy Larsen, and their two children.”

How many children did Doug Larsen have?

Doug and Amy Larsen were parents to two children; all sons.

The names of the pair’s kids are Everett Larsen and Christian Larsen.

In a Facebook post in August 2023, Amy Larsen revealed that her youngest son, Everett Larsen, was starting second grade this year. Meanwhile, her older son Christian Larsen was heading into Middle School.

What happened to Doug Larsen and his family?

On October 1, 2023, Senator Doug Larsen, his wife Amy Larsen, and their two children lost their lives in a plane accident.

That Sunday, the four were on their way back home to North Dakota.

During that weekend, they were visiting family in Scottsdale, Arizona.

However, the small plane they were aboard crashed after stopping to refuel near Moab, Utah.

The next day, the accident was announced by Senator David Hogue.

“Senator Doug Larsen, his wife Amy, and their two young children died in a plane crash last evening in Utah,” he stated in an email to his and Larsen’s fellow senators.

“They were visiting family in Scottsdale and returning home. They stopped to refuel in Utah.

“I’m not sure where the bereavement starts with such a tragedy, but I think it starts with prayers for the grandparents, surviving stepchild of Senator Larsen, and extended family of Doug and Amy.”

When was Larsen elected?

On December 1, 2020, Larsen assumed office after he was elected to the North Dakota Senate in November of the same year.

He was elected to represent the state’s 34th district over Democratic opponent Adam Michal.

“I had to look at the results about three times before I dare say anything,” Larsen said of his election victory.

He told KFYR: “We were optimistic, we were hopeful, but we expected it to be a very small margin.”

Before he lost his life in the abovementioned plane tragedy, his term was scheduled to end in November 2024.
